Formed in 1994 The Gator Alley Band has specialized in recreating the live sound of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The bands philosophy has been to study the music in such detail that when they played it live the audience could close their eyes and believe they were actually listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. We've always believed that the music was the most important factor, not wearing wigs or special clothing. Those who have seen the Gator Alley Band have not been disappointed, including well known morning radio show host Lamont & Tonelli for 107.7 the Bone in San Francisco. Lamont & Tonelli: "The Gator Alley Band is note for note Lynyrd Skynyrd, so if you want a musical flashback of the monumental sound of early Lynyrd Skynyrd, then the Gator Alley Band is a must see."

This special evening will be a benefit for Mel Snipes' family. The band's lead vocalist, Mel Snipes, was tragically killed in an auto accident on Oct. 6, 2007, on the way to a show at Monster Fest in Merced. This benefit show will help establish trusts for Mel's two small children, Harley and Mark Snipes. The Gator Alley Band & Snipes' families have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from all over the world & send out a heartfelt thanks to everyone.

Sharing the bill this evening are several of the best Bay Area tribute bands - Hot For Teacher (a tribute to David Lee Roth era Van Halen), Izzy Ozborne (a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne) and The Refugees (a tribute to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.)
